The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) is taking part in the 34th edition of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) under the theme of From Engraving to Writing.
Through this initiative, the NHRC aims to raise awareness among citizens and residents about their rights and responsibilities.
NHRC public relations and media director Sultan Hamad al-Hajri said that the NHRC is committed to participating annually in this significant event, as it serves as a crucial platform to fulfill one of its key objectives by spreading awareness and promoting a human rights culture as widely as possible.
He added that the NHRC's publications provide essential knowledge on rights and responsibilities across different segments of society.
Al-Hajri said that the NHRC is leveraging its presence at the fair to engage with a broad audience, distribute its publications, and provide legal support through specialised legal researchers.
The committee's booth features informative materials while also fostering collaboration with ministries, institutions, and government bodies.
Al-Hajri added that one of this year's notable publications is the NHRC's third strategic plan (2024-2030), launched last November.
The plan outlines strategic and operational goals, along with various legal, advisory, cultural, social, and regulatory initiatives.
It also prioritises the protection of vulnerable groups and the strengthening of partnerships with civil society organisations.
Additionally, the NHRC has recently released the second volume of The Right to Food and Climate Challenges, exploring climate-related risks to food security, emissions reduction strategies, and adaptation measures to enhance sustainable development.
The NHRC's participation aligns with its national strategy (2024-2030), reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding human rights in Qatar through education, awareness campaigns, and diverse cultural content.
The booth features books, brochures, educational tools, artwork, children's stories, and legal publications – all freely available to visitors.
The NHRC is also showcasing its annual reports, outlining human rights developments in Qatar and recommendations for progress.
Specialised materials for migrant workers are also available in multiple languages, offering guidance on their rights and complaint procedures.
