A powerful new platform called AdVision Connect is unlocking untapped revenue opportunities from one of the most overlooked devices in short-term rentals: the smart TV.
Built to run on existing televisions and Android devices, this first-of-its-kind software system gives property managers full control over what appears on screen in their properties. That could mean a branded welcome message or a local recommendation. It could even be QR-code Wi-Fi network access or interactive, dynamic advertising.
Property owners can monetise the guest experience without technical know-how or extra hardware investments.
"AdVision Connect was born from a desire to improve revenue streams for short-term rental providers," said the platform's developer, Trent Challis.
"What began as a simple requirement to display advertisements has evolved into a comprehensive solution for a multi-billion dollar industry."
Differentiating with the Guest Experience
The guest experience is how visitors feel about their accommodation from the minute they make a booking until they checkout.
In today's digital-first world, delivering a five-star experience is critical. It's how property managers compete. It's how they attract those gushing reviews that encourage visitors to return and new guests to book.
AdVision Connect was made with the guest experience front of mind. A basic ad loop may not inspire guests, but an interactive, highly relevant system does, particularly one that serves the visitor's needs in real-time.
Guests can use the TV to book services, extend their stay, view building information, or any other custom, revenue-generating interaction. And because everything is controlled via a cloud-based dashboard, owners can update content or ad campaigns from anywhere at any time.
"In a rental property, the system can display Wi-Fi details with QR codes for instant connection," says Challis.
"The complete customisability means nothing is impossible—whether it's selling retail items, booking local tours, or ordering food delivery."
It's about convenience. How can the property manager deliver the most value with the least effort required on the guest's behalf?
AdVision Connect removes friction and creates a more personal experience, which encourages guests to take action and spend more.
More Revenue, No Upfront Investment
Increasing revenue potential typically requires an upfront investment. With AdVision Connect, that's not the case.
"The system works with existing hardware that businesses already have in place," said Challis.
"There's no need to invest in proprietary equipment or complex installations. It's designed to be deployed quickly and efficiently on standard consumer devices."
Properties that already contain a smart TV or Android-powered device are adoption-ready. This makes the system a low-barrier solution for property managers. It reduces startup costs and ensures the technology is accessible to both single-property owners and large-scale operators.
Easy-to-Use Tech for Stress-Free Adoption
Powerful simplicity was a non-negotiable from day one. Challis built the platform to be easy to use for guests and property managers alike.
What appears on screen is remotely editable from a browser-based dashboard. There's no waiting on third-party tech teams and no revenue sharing with middlemen.
"The ability to control everything from a web browser in real-time places our solution far ahead of anything currently available on the market," Challis explains.
Property managers with all levels of tech experience can leverage the system to drive up their earnings. Once installed, they can be as hands-on or off as they like.
Plus, the AdVision team is available to assist if needed. [NOTE: I added this in but am not 100% sure it's true. Thanks!]
Results Delivered in Record Time
Speaking of technology, the development of AdVision Connect also raised eyebrows.
While a former business contact reportedly spent two years trying to build a similar system, Challis had functional 4K video ads caching directly to devices without lag within the first week of development.
"I developed the initial advertising capability within days," Challis said.
"From there, it was a matter of enhancing the platform with a web control panel, comprehensive analytics, grouping capabilities, and other advanced features."
"One of the major difficulties we overcame was enabling 4K video support across all major television brands without requiring separate hardware," Challis continues.
"This was a significant technical challenge that our team successfully resolved, allowing the system to deliver stunning visuals directly through the television's native capabilities."
A Freemium Model with Scalable Monetisation
Challis plans to roll out AdVision Connect under a freemium model.
The core software will be available for free, with monetisation tied to ad impressions and network scale. The more properties using the system, the more powerful the platform becomes.
"We've already received an acquisition offer of $3.8 million USD from a competitor who immediately recognised AdVision Connect's potential after seeing the launcher and advertising system in action," Challis said.
He estimates that revenue share models could become extremely lucrative as device deployments scale. Plus, thanks to the platform's compatibility with Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Hisense, and TCL, that scale is already well within reach.
Use Cases Across Industries
Originally built for holiday rentals, AdVision Connect is seeing strong interest outside the hospitality sector too.
A major Canadian train company is exploring it for onboard entertainment and targeted advertising, for example.
A London taxi company has plans to replace its current ad tech with AdVision Connect. This would free the company from restrictive lease agreements and give them complete revenue control using off-the-shelf hardware.
"The level of interest has been extraordinary," said Challis.
"We're seeing applications for this technology in areas we hadn't initially considered, demonstrating its versatility and widespread appeal."
The Road to Success
Despite the rapid success and interest from property managers and other industries, the road to the finished product wasn't always smooth.
The original business contact who had approached Challis to build a simple ad launcher has since left the venture.
"This person has now cut off all communication. He has walked away from what would have been an extraordinary opportunity," said Challis.
"When developing products and services like this, I always consider potential exit strategies. One of the major advertisers is very likely to acquire the platform for hundreds of millions—a life-changing sum that this individual will never see."
"His short-sighted decision has cost him what could have been generational wealth, which will ultimately far exceed any immediate financial gain."
Challis is all-in on his mission to help property managers and other businesses expand their revenue potential.
