Qatar’s top beach volleyball duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan reaffirmed their continental dominance with a flawless run to the gold medal at the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Beach Tour 24th Samila Open in Thailand. In the final, the 2020 Olympic bronze medallists showcased their class with a commanding 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) victory over New Zealand’s Bradley Fuller and Ben O’Dea.
The Qatari pair were in sublime form throughout the tournament, winning every match in straight sets. Their momentum continued into the knockout stages. In the round of 16, Cherif and Ahmed comfortably dispatched Indonesia 21-15, 21-14, before going on to defeat Australia and Iran in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively, both in straight sets.
