The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has reported a significant turnout at its fasting breakfast initiative "Iftar" in the Industrial Area during Ramadan, with approximately 1,900 people benefiting daily. This brings the total number of beneficiaries throughout the holy month to an impressive 57,000.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry highlighted that the initiative is part of its larger "Iftar" project, managed by the General Directorate of Endowments. The project aims to provide Iftar meals to 300,000 fasting individuals during Ramadan, embodying the values of social solidarity, generosity, and community unity.
The Ministry emphasized the meticulous organization of the initiative, ensuring seamless meal distribution to participants while maintaining high-quality standards. Comfortable, air-conditioned spaces have been prepared for worshippers, offering complete and nutritious meals. The Iftar Committee collaborates with multiple entities to guarantee smooth operations.
Chairman of Iftar committee at the Ministry Muhammad Yaqoub Al Ali noted that the initiative serves as a support system for various community groups, alleviating the burden of preparing Iftar meals. He stressed that the project reflects the spirit of giving and social solidarity during the blessed month.
Al Ali expressed gratitude to donors whose continuous contributions have provided meals to thousands of fasting individuals daily, reinforcing a spirit of cooperation and solidarity within society.
He encouraged benefactors to continue supporting the project, emphasizing its tremendous spiritual reward, citing the Prophet Muhammads (PBUH) saying: "Whoever provides a fasting person with Iftar will have a reward equivalent to theirs without diminishing the reward of the fasting person."
The project remains open for contributions, allowing donors to choose specific areas to support through the projects official website: https://www.awqaf.gov.qa/ftr.
The "Iftar" tables, distributed across various locations, have witnessed remarkable participation since the beginning of Ramadan. The Ministry has ensured the initiative is focused on densely populated areas to better serve the target audience.
Through the "Iftar" project, the Ministry aims to fulfill the intentions of endowment donors, offering support to those in need, easing the burden on fasting individuals, particularly laborers, and utilizing these gatherings as opportunities for religious, educational, and cultural engagement.
