Field teams from Qatar Charity (QC) in Sudan have begun distributing Ramadan food baskets to orphans, needy families, and people displaced due to the ongoing conflict.
The initiative is part of the 'Giving Lives On' campaign for the year 1446H (2025), being implemented in 40 countries, a statement said.
QC's Iftar project continues to assist approximately 4.5mn people in need across Africa, Asia, and Europe this year.
The Iftar project is designed to support orphaned families sponsored by QC, as well as non-sponsored orphans, displaced people due to the war, and other vulnerable families, by providing them with essential food supplies during Ramadan.
A total of 2,380 baskets are expected to be distributed to 14,280 beneficiaries across the Red Sea, Kassala, and Nile River States.
Rehab Sharif, the shelter supervisor at the Humanitarian Aid Commission, said: "Qatar Charity has provided extensive support to various shelters, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan. Their efforts have made a significant impact in assisting displaced people, patients, and orphans."
Several mothers of orphans and displaced families in Port Sudan also expressed their thanks after receiving the Ramadan food baskets, which were thoughtfully prepared to align with Sudanese food culture during Ramadan.
