The Iftar tent in the Industrial Area, set up by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, will serve 57,000 beneficiaries throughout Ramadan at the rate of 1,900 daily.
Iftar tents set up at various locations across Qatar by Awqaf, are expected to receive more than 300,000 fasting people throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
The air-conditioned tents are open in labour dense areas as part of Awqaf’s Ifar Saem project, an official statement said. They are at Al Muraikh, Al Attiyah at Industrial Area, Thursday and Friday Market at Ain Khalid, New Central Market at Al Sailiya, Eid Prayer Ground at Al Rayyan, opposite to Old Al Wakra Market at Al Wakra, Othman Mosque at Al Khor and Eid Prayer Grounds at Bin Omran and Al Aziziya.
The locations are strategically selected in order to maximise the impact of the initiative. Awqaf ensures that the meals are delivered in good quality and quantity to the fasting persons.
Mohammed Yaqoub al-Ali, chairman of the Iftar Saem Committee, said the project aims to support various segments of society and to alleviate the burden of preparing Iftar meals. It embodies the meaning of social solidarity and reflects the spirit of giving during the holy month.
He thanked the benefactors and supporters who are keen to contribute to this charitable effort noting that their continued support contributes to providing Iftar meals to thousands of fasting people every day and fosters a spirit of co-operation and solidarity within the community.
The official also urged charitable people to continue supporting the project adding that donations are still accepted from benefactors. Those wishing to contribute can choose the region they wish to support and participate via the project's link https://www.awqaf.gov.qa/ftr.
Iftar tents also feature spiritual, religious and cultural aspects. Religious and awareness lectures are delivered ahead of Iftar. Awqaf, in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, is carrying out a slew of awareness activities at Iftar tents where the participants are given tips by the officials from General Directorate for Drug Control, General Directorate of Civil Defence and General Directorate of Traffic and Community Police.
