Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has begun implementing the Ramadan Iftar project, as part of its Ramadan Campaign 2025/1446 AH.

Under the theme “Fruitful Giving”, the project is aimed at ensuring food security for more than 538,000 fasting people in 16 countries.

It involves the distribution of Ramadan food parcels containing local staples to poor people in Qatar, Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Niger, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan, Mauritania, Djibouti, Kenya, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

QRCS’s foreign offices are working on the Ramadan Iftar project, in cooperation with fellow National Societies in the host communities.

In Lebanon, QRCS office is distributing Ramadan food parcels to 11,700 Syrian refugees and poor Lebanese people in the poorest parts of the country.

In cooperation with Jordan National Red Crescent Society, 1,233 food coupons are being distributed to 6,165 beneficiaries.

The distribution of Ramadan food parcels was completed in Chad, with a total of 400 recipient families, or 2,400 beneficiaries, in N'Djamena.

Similarly, in cooperation with Red Crescent Society of Djibouti, 351 poor families, or 2,106 beneficiaries, in 10 remote areas of Djibouti received 1-month food parcels to meet their food needs during the holy month of Ramadan.

Food security and livelihoods is one of the main areas of work for QRCS, A detailed plan has been developed to launch 33 food aid and livelihoods projects throughout 2025, for the benefit of 736,750 people in Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Syria, Yemen, Niger, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Bangladesh, and Mauritania.
