In a move that reflects Qatar’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and enhancing health services in Islamic communities, the Qatar Health Centre was officially opened in the municipality of Abobo in Abidjan, the capital of Côte d'Ivoire. The facility was opened with funding from the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs. According to an official statement from Awqaf, the project is implemented within a series of health and development initiatives implemented by the ministry to support Islamic communities and communities worldwide.

The opening ceremony witnessed a prominent official and diplomatic presence. The centre was inaugurated by an Awqaf delegation that included Mohammed Jabr al-Mannai, director of the Islamic Affairs Department, Majid al-Mansouri, head of the Islamic Relations Department and Mubarak bin Hussein al-Marri, Qatar's ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire. The opening was also attended by the President of the Senate of Côte d'Ivoire and Mayor of Abobo Kandia Camara, the Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage and the Minister of Women, Family and Children along with a number of ambassadors and heads of international organisations in the country and representatives of government agencies.

Al-Mannai said Awqaf pays special attention to implementing health, educational and advocacy projects abroad, based on its mission to promote civilized and human construction and support sustainable development in Islamic societies. "These projects aim to improve basic services, provide a suitable environment for decent living, and enhance the role of Muslim communities in their countries. The health centre comes within Awqaf's strategy to support health projects, Islamic centers, and educational and social initiatives," he said noting that the ministry relies on in-depth studies in selecting its external projects to ensure meeting the actual needs of Islamic communities in coordination with the relevant authorities.

"Health, religious and educational projects are at the forefront of priorities, given their essential role in achieving societal stability promoting human development and improving the quality of life. Awqaf provides quality services that serve Islamic communities worldwide through building hospitals and medical centres and implementing educational and advocacy projects and Islamic centers that aim to advance human beings and enhance their role in society," he said.

The Qatar Health Centre is a qualitative addition to the health sector in Côte d'Ivoire. It contains specialised clinics equipped with modern equipment and aims to provide integrated medical services including primary and specialised care. This is to improve the level of health care in the region. This supports the infrastructure and achieving sustainable development per Qatar's vision to enhance human solidarity and provide the basic needs of Islamic communities.

The Qatar Health Centre is expected to improve the level of health services in Côte d'Ivoire and provide medical care to thousands of beneficiaries to be a living model of cooperation between Qatar and Islamic communities around the world.

The statement said that Qatar ambassador in Côte d'Ivoire Mubarak bin Hussein l-Marri and all Qatari officials played a prominent role in the success and construction of the Qatar Health Centre project.
