The Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber recently concluded the ‘Qualification and Preparation of Arbitrators Programme’.

Held in co-operation with Qatar University’s Centre for Continuing Education, the programme was aimed to prepare and qualify Qatari personnel through a scientific and training curriculum on arbitration.

QICCA board member for International Relations, Sheikh Dr Thani bin Ali al-Thani, attended the concluding ceremony held at the Law College’s headquarters. He delivered the graduation certificates to the 23 trainees from various governmental, semi-governmental, and other entities following the conclusion of the final stage titled ‘Practical Mock Trial’.

Sheikh Dr Thani said the programme has seen remarkable participation from many trainees across governmental and semi-governmental entities, including lawyers, engineers, and individuals interested in arbitration.

He noted that since its launch in 2007, the programme has trained and qualified numerous arbitrators, equipping them with comprehensive knowledge of arbitration and practical experience in procedural, practical, and legal aspects—key skills essential for the arbitration field.

He emphasised that QICCA continues to support graduates by enhancing their expertise and helping them gain practical experience through various methods.

The programme, held at Qatar University from January 19-February 19, included five stages covering the concept of commercial arbitration and its practical applications, arbitration case management procedures, drafting arbitration awards and their key components, and practical training, including a mock trial with the participation of all trainees.
