The Government Communications Office (GCO), in collaboration with the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB), organised a workshop titled 'Fundamentals of Media Monitoring,' with the participation of public relations and communications professionals from 15 ministries and government entities.
The three-day workshop, which began on Feb 17, aims to enhance media monitoring capabilities and streamline procedures through the Sharek platform, an advanced digital solution for media monitoring.
Yousef al-Jaber, Director of Government Development Affairs at the CGB, said: "Improving the efficiency of media monitoring is vital to our decision-making process. It enables government entities to better understand and respond to public opinion through data-driven insights."
"This workshop is designed to help us establish an advanced media monitoring system that enables rapid response to developments while strengthening our government entities' capacity to create more precise and adaptable media policies," he continued.
"By implementing a unified monitoring approach across all government entities, we not only improve operational efficiency but also enhance our public communication, ultimately fostering greater public trust in government communications."
Najla Al Hajri, Head of the Monitoring and Follow-up Department at the GCO, said: "Media monitoring serves as a cornerstone of our government communications system. It goes beyond simple news tracking to encompass the analysis of public opinion trends, which we then use to refine our media strategies. This workshop represents our ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration among government entities. Our goal is to ensure consistent messaging across departments while maintaining a unified approach that aligns with our national priorities, promote transparency and community engagement contributing to Qatar's National Vision 2030."
She added: "The Sharek platform marks a significant advancement in our media monitoring capabilities. Its sophisticated data analysis tools enable us to analyse information more precisely and effectively, allowing for swift responses to media developments and more impactful government communications. We remain dedicated to enhancing our national workforce's communications expertise and ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the rapidly evolving global media landscape."
Aligned with the GCO's strategy to strengthen collaboration and streamline communications operations across government, the workshop centered on developing robust media monitoring mechanisms as a strategic priority. This approach aims to build a government communications system founded on comprehensive data analysis and proactive responses, empowering entities to craft effective communications strategies that align with international best practices.
The event is being held on the heels of the annual Government Communications Forum, which gathered communications and media professionals in Qatar to explore emerging communication strategies and technology shaping the future of media and communications.
