Katara Cultural Village is preparing to launch the 13th edition of the Halal Qatar Festival on Wednesday.

The event, taking place in the southern area of Katara, will run until February 24.

The festival will celebrate Qatar's rich heritage and contribute to promoting interest in livestock and the related cultural legacy of the country and the region. Halal Qatar Festival is one of the most prominent annual events that attract heritage enthusiasts, breeders, and those halal livestock breed fans, covering sheep and goats. It combines heritage displays, competitions, and interactive activities that reflect the authentic spirit of the old ways of life.

The festival features Al-Mazayen, the main competition where the most beautiful livestock are selected based on certain precise standards and criteria, including the overall appearance, breed, and the quality of competing animal. The competition is divided into categories, including Ardi goats, Arab sheep, and Syrian livestock, with prizes awarded to winners in various categories.

The festival includes competitions in which livestock compete based on the beauty and health. These competitions include several categories. The festival also offers entertainment and educational activities for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy live heritage performances, participate in educational workshops on livestock breeding, and explore the traditional market showcasing authentic Qatari products.

Halal Qatar Festival aims to support and encourage livestock breeders in Qatar and the region, preserve pure breeds, enhance local production, introduce new generations to the traditions of livestock breeding and care, and revive and strengthen the rich rustic heritage among young people.
