The Saudi Cultural Week is set to commence at Darb Al-Saai in um Salal during the period Febraury18-21, the Ministry of Culture announced.

Organised in partnership with the Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture, the event is part of the efforts to boost the bilateral cultural co-operation through holding a raft of activities that highlight the prolific Saudi cultural legacy with the participation of a contingent of Saudi specialists in the areas of art and heritage.

The event is an opportunity to offer a superb experience for the public to interact with the rich Saudi heritage through showcasing diverse exhibits that highlight aspects of the Saudi culture, in addition to helping them internalise the Saudi cultures and fostering the domestic and international intercultural dialogue and honing the talents in a wide diversity of creative fields.

The Ministry of Culture's Culture and Arts Department's Director Abdulrahman Abdullah al-Dulaimi said the event is not merely an exhibition of innovation but intends to pay tribute to a one cultural root, underlining that the Qatari-Saudi culture intersects, in terms of mores and arts, thereby making this week an incredible experience that reflects the shared identity and accentuates the rock-solid cultural relationship between the two nations.

Al-Dulaimi added that he believes in the fact that culture is the robust tool to shore up bonds among peoples, serving as the strong vehicle to understand the other, highlighting that this cultural week is an opportunity to grasp a profound legacy that ranges from popular arts to the modern innovation and stories bequeathed by forebears to contemporary artistic experiences that reflect the spirit of renewal.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia not only share geographical boundaries, but deep feelings, traditions and cultural values, Al-Dulaimi noted, affirming that he looks forward to having an event that bolsters this shared legacy to nurture the domestic cultural scene with an experience that highlights the Saudi creativity and entrenches the notion of culture as a vehicle for forging rapprochement among peoples.

The cultural week features a range of cultural institutions, including the Saudi Literature Publishing Translation Commission (MOC), the Theatre and Performing Arts Commission, the Heritage Commission, the Music Commission, the Film Commission, the Architecture and Design Arts Commission, the Libraries Commission, the Fashion Commission, and the Culinary Arts Commission.

Additionally, participating in this event are Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, alongside the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy. All are set to contribute to the creative presentation of Saudi culture, showcasing its rich artistic heritage.

The '2025 Year of Handicrafts' initiative from Qatar debuts in this global participation by featuring a pavilion showcasing the cultural year and the significance of handicrafts.

The initiative intends to raise awareness of handicrafts as a key component of Saudi culture, with innovators demonstrating their skills and engaging directly with the audience.

The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy is poised to organise an Arabic calligraphy exhibition to showcase items in glass displays, including calligraphy pens, pressed paper, and silk thread ink, in addition to featuring a video introducing the center's strategy, goals, and its role in preserving Arabic calligraphy.
