Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein stressed in a phone call Wednesday the importance of immediate start of Gaza reconstruction without displacing the Palestinian people from their land. They also stressed the need to stop the practices of the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinians in the West Bank.
The Egyptian presidency said in a statement that the two sides emphasised the unity of the Egyptian and Jordanian positions, including the need to fully implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, continue to release hostages and detainees, and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid as part of efforts to end the humanitarian suffering in the Strip.
The two sides, according to the statement, also expressed their keenness to cooperate closely with US President Donald Trump, with the aim of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East region, and his leadership of a path that leads to this long-awaited desired goal of establishing a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions, as well as ensuring peaceful coexistence among all peoples of the region.
The call also discussed ways to enhance coordination and consultation between Arab countries, and preparations for the emergency Arab summit scheduled in Egypt on February 27, in a way that meets the aspirations of the peoples of the region for peace, stability and prosperity.
The strength and solidity of relations between the two countries were also emphasised, as well as the keenness of the two leaderships to coordinate jointly on all regional issues in a way that serves the interests of the Egyptian and Jordanian peoples, and supports the interests of all Arab peoples.
