The sessions on the fourth day of the conference accompanying the 12th Qatar Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2025) focused on sustainable agriculture, modern technologies, and green economy drivers to explore the most advanced agricultural technologies and sustainable innovations.
Experts discussed the latest innovations and techniques that contribute to enhancing economic efficiency, achieving environmental sustainability, and increasing productivity in the agricultural sector.
Dr Ali Arslan from the Ministry of Municipality’s Agricultural Affairs Department presented the role of the green economy and the importance of sustainable practices in the agricultural sector, explaining how environmental solutions can boost economic growth while preserving natural resources.
Dr Mohammed al-Sir, also from the Agricultural Affairs Department, provided an overview of agricultural marketing strategies, emphasising the role of pricing, distribution, and branding in increasing sales and maximising profits.
Dr Sabah Mariam from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) presented an advanced perspective on biochar technology, highlighting its role in improving soil fertility, increasing agricultural productivity, and contributing to carbon sequestration.
Dr Mohamed Amine Bonouar from the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) highlighted the significance of artificial intelligence in enhancing economic efficiency for farmers, helping to reduce costs and support smart decision-making in agricultural businesses.
The accompanying conference also featured a panel discussion with a group of agricultural entrepreneurs who shared their contributions to developing the sector and enhancing economic sustainability.
The discussion highlighted the pivotal role of entrepreneurs in strengthening food security and balancing profitability with sustainability, reinforcing the agricultural sector’s status as a cornerstone of the green economy.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, AgriteQ 2025 Organising and Supervisory Committee chairman Youssef Khaled al-Khelaifi emphasised that the exhibition aims to convey important messages to the entire community, especially children, to instill a love for the environment, promote food security awareness, and encourage environmental conservation.
He highlighted special agricultural activities for children designed to educate them on these crucial issues.
“Additionally, the exhibition includes an accompanying conference featuring various events, such as the Camel Forum and the Biotechnology Conference organised by the Agricultural Research Department,” al-Khelaifi said.
The exhibition also features interactive discussion sessions with influencers who have successful experiences in home farming, allowing them to share their knowledge and insights with the audience.
