Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan honoured Qatar along with other countries that provided support to Turkiye in addressing the effects of the Feb 6, 2023 earthquake disaster. The honouring ceremony was attended by the ministers of interior, environment, urbanisation and climate change.

During the ceremony held in Adiyaman Province to commemorate the second anniversary of the earthquake, the Turkish president thanked Qatar, noting that it always stands by Turkiye. He sent his greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the people of Qatar.

Acting charge d'affaires at the Qatari embassy in Ankara Dr Naif bin Jassim al-Abduljabbar received a commemorative shield from President Erdogan in appreciation of Qatar's support and assistance to his country in confronting the effects of the earthquake.
