The departments of Mosques and Da’wa and Religious Guidance at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs have honoured the graduates of Qatari imams course and preachers participating in the “Role of the Family in Islam” course.

The function, according to a statement from Awqaf, was in the presence of HE the Undersecretary of Awqaf Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem al-Thani, assistant undersecretary for Da’wa and Mosques Affairs Mohammed bin Hamad al-Kuwari, assistant undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Khalid bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, and several department directors and officials.

The ceremony witnessed the honouring of a group of new Qatari imams who passed a comprehensive Sharia qualification programme, and the participants in the "Role of the Family in Islam" course.

The course focuses on strengthening family values and providing preachers with the Sharia knowledge and educational skills necessary to enhance the role of the family in building a cohesive society.

Outstanding imams and preachers in the country's mosques were also honoured.

Al-Kuwari, in his speech, praised the pivotal role of imams and preachers in guiding society and spreading the values of moderation according to a moderate approach based on Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet.

Preacher Ahmed Jabr al-Dosari delivered a speech on behalf of the honorees.

He said that the course included strengthening the concepts of family values and the role of the family in building society and developing Qatari preachers in the legal, skill and educational aspects.

At the end of the ceremony, HE Dr Sheikh Khalid distributed certificates of appreciation to the imams and preachers in a gesture of appreciation and recognition of their efforts in serving religion and society.
