The world premiere of composer Malek Jandali’s 'Syrian Symphony,' a powerful tribute to the Syrian people’s struggle for freedom, took centre stage Saturday at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The event, performed by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with Qatar Museums and Years of Culture, marked the American Syrian composer’s 2025-2026 season and conducted by Grammy-nominated maestro Alastair Willis.

In his Syrian Symphony, Malek Jandali presented a profound musical exploration of Syria. The four movements, inspired by the chants and voices of the Syrian revolution, draw upon the nation's rich musical traditions. It embodies the resilience, courage, and aspirations of the Syrian people while fulfilling Jandali’s mission to celebrate Arabic culture and promote global unity through music.

The event brought together music enthusiasts, and cultural leaders from around the world, serving as a platform to spotlight music’s key role in preserving heritage and supporting dialogue across nations. This concert was presented as a legacy project of the Qatar – Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia 2022 Year of Culture.
