HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani has held a series of bilateral meetings with ministers and executives of major international companies, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum held in the Swiss city of Davos.
His Excellency met with HE Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al kassabi and HE Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa Parks Tau.
Discussions during the meetings focused on ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and industry, as well as exchanging views on the main topics on the agenda of the forum, in addition a number of topics of common interest.
In the context of strengthening relations with the global private sector, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry met with a number of officials from international companies participating in the forum, including CEO of Morgan Stanley and Head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa Clare Woodman, Global Managing Partner at McKinsey & Company Bob Sternfels, President of Brookfield Martin Cotter, CEO of Brookfield Private Equity Anuj Ranjan, and CEO of Grab Anthony Tan.
The meetings addressed boosting trade cooperation and investing in commercial and economic opportunities in promising sectors, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Means of attracting foreign direct investment to the State of Qatar were also discussed, highlighting the incentives and legislation provided by the State to support the private sector and encourage investors and businessmen to invest in the Qatari market.
During the meetings, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the successful economic policies adopted by the State of Qatar, pointing out the importance of investing in the promising opportunities provided by the State in various vital sectors.
