Al Faisal Global Foundation for Culture and Knowledge was officially inaugurated Monday in Doha.
It is a national institution with a global vision to maintain, document and promote Qatari, Arab and global heritage.
Speaking at a press conference, the founder and chairman of Al Faisal Global for Culture and Knowledge, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, emphasised that the foundation intends to contribute to Qatar's massive efforts to preserving heritage.
He hailed state-led efforts in spreading the culture of documentation and knowledge through numerous initiatives and events.
HE Sheikh Faisal added that the foundation strives to safeguard the overall Qatari, Arab and global heritage to be documented for the generations to come.
Speaking to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), he reiterated the foundation's unwavering objectives to care for culture, history and heritage and explore everything related to the Qatari inveterate legacy to be further documented and disseminated either through publications or documentation via cutting-edge technologies to protect it from extinction and bequeath it to the next generations.
HE Sheikh Faisal underlined that the foundation is committed to contributing to everything related to culture, heritage and history, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture with the aim of nurturing the cultural scene in Qatar and documenting the Qatari heritage.
HE the Qatar Press Centre Chairman Saad bin Mohammed al-Rumaihi highlighted the importance of this foundation in fostering national identity and maintaining the inveterate Qatari legacy for the generations to come.
He affirmed his confidence in the foundation's unstinting contribution to serving numerous cultural and heritage fields, foremost of which are preserving and caring for heritage as exemplified by the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum.
Addressing the press conference, poet Dr Hassan al-Naama described this inauguration as an incredible initiative to promote culture and thought in Qatar.
He said that he hopes the foundation will be a role model for builders of nations, positioning itself as a beacon of thought and culture so as to build a bright future that illuminates culture and knowledge.
Al Faisal Global Foundation for Culture and Knowledge director Ibrahim Badawi highlighted that the foundation had recently accomplished seven publications that focus on heritage, including the second edition in Arabic, alongside the first and second edition of a book in English, *From What I Have Read, Seen, and Heard: Qatar as We Have Experienced, Its History, People and Rulers, authored by HE Sheikh Faisal.
The book tackles the challenges and accomplishments of Qatar since its foundation until today, Badawi said, affirming that an edition in French will be accomplished soon, in addition to the launch of the first edition of the book in the Malayalam language at the New Delhi World Book Fair next month.
