Al Noor Center for the Blind and Qatar University (QU) signed a co-operation agreement to hold professional training courses and workshops to advance talents and capabilities of persons with visual impairment, as well as interested parents, university students, teachers, service providers and so forth.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Executive Director of Al Noor Center, Mishal Abdullah al-Nuaimi, and Chief Strategy and Development Officer at QU, Dr Muna al-Marzouqi. Al-Nuaimi highlighted that the agreement is a vital step toward the center's endeavours to empower persons with visual impairment and qualify them to be effective part of the community, pointing out that the agreement constitutes a new phase of joint work to offer outstanding training services that meet the need of persons with visual impairment and reinforce their capabilities in navigating occupational and existential challenges.

The centre will exert utmost efforts to ensure the success of this programme through providing best talents and expertise to achieve a shared vision that serves the Qatari community, highlighted al-Nuaimi.

For her part, al-Marzouqi stated that the programmes and courses offered by QU's Community Service and Continuing Education Center significantly contribute to bolstering the participants' general skills and increasing their cognitive achievement, highlighting that these programs are of paramount importance to upscale their occupational rehabilitation, thereby directly and positively impact the performance of public and private institutions in Qatar.

Advancing the national competencies dramatically contributes to the economic and social development, given the rapid technological advancements and prominence of digital revolution, said al-Marzouqi.

She added that Community Service and Continuing Education Center has a clear future vision, stemming from being part and parcel of QU that aligns with the university's general strategy, highlighting that the center aspires to be a repository of expertise in the State of Qatar through the consistent expansion and presenting novel ideas through training courses and programs in the domains that serve the community and advance its members.

The agreement states that QU shall provide essential facilities to hold training courses and workshops, in addition to advertising the programs via its media channels and issuing certified attendance certificates for the participants.

In return, the center will provide the essential training materials and professional trainers across various mutually agreed-upon areas to ensure the superb implementation and achieve the objectives of the joint programs.

In addition, the agreement intends to achieve numerous primary objectives, including the organization and implementation of training programs that aim to advance the practical and scientific skills of persons with visual impairment and enhance the community's awareness of the significance of supporting and empowering this segment.
