Al Wakra Municipality, represented by the Municipal Control Department (Health Control and General Control Section), has implemented a joint awareness campaign.

Held over three consecutive days in the old Al Wakra market, the campaign is held as part of the ‘Cleanliness is Culture’ initiative. This, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Municipality, comes within the framework of the municipality’s keenness to ensure that establishments adhere to the necessary health requirements while preparing food items and adhere to the Public Hygiene and Advertising Law.

Meanwhile, the Health Control Department carried out 155 inspection tours in the market. These resulted in the inspection of 75 food establishments which included restaurants, cafeterias, grocery stores, fish markets and butcher shops.

Awareness was raised about the necessary health requirements. Also, the inspectors of the General Control Department carried out 73 inspection tours and 41 awareness visits. Twelve shops were given warnings to adhere to the laws.

Six inspectors from the General Control Department participated. This campaign comes within the plan of the Municipal Control Department which aims to enhance control and awareness in a way that achieves public interest and ensures compliance with the required laws.

The inspection campaigns will continue during the coming period to ensure full compliance with the necessary laws and requirements. Director of the Municipal Control Department has urged all institutions to co-operate with the inspection teams and adhere to the approved standards. The director said that the municipality will not be lenient with violators and will take the necessary legal measures.
