Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality, participated in the 17th World Food and Agriculture Forum, the Berlin Conference of Ministers of Agriculture, held under the title ‘Shaping the Bioeconomy in a Sustainable Way’.

The ministry, according to an official statement, also took part in the World Green Week, the leading trade fair in food and agriculture industry in Berlin from January 15-18. The events were attended by ministers of agriculture along with senior representatives from government entities and international organisations around the world.

The Qatari delegation was headed by Fahad Mohammed al-Qahtani, assistant undersecretary, Agriculture and Food Security Affairs with Qatar's ambassador to Germany, Abdullah Ibrahim al-Hamar.

The forum, which was organised by the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture witnessed the participation of ministers of agriculture from 70 countries. It discussed the role of trade in securing sufficient food for the world's population, the importance of transparency in the food supply chain, and the impact of free trade on agriculture and rural development in their countries.

The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in 2025 also highlighted the theme of the bioeconomy. This is as agricultural and forestry production form the basis for the continued development towards a global bioeconomy to ensure global food security, respect for human rights, taking into account environmental limits and contributing to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
