Tunisia lauded the Gaza ceasefire deal that was sealed after more than 15 months of Israeli aggression on the Strip.

In a statement on Saturday, the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored its unstinting commitment to backing the Palestinian people's struggles and their rights to establish their independent state on their entire territories with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility to ensure an enduring ceasefire in Gaza, fully lift the siege on the enclave, surge humanitarian assistance and enable the Palestinian people to reconstruct their lands.

Last Wednesday, the State of Qatar announced success of the joint mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States in reaching a ceasefire deal between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel in the Gaza Strip, which is slated to enter into force on Sunday.
