President of the Dominican Republic Luis Rodolfo Abinader affirmed the distinguished and evolving relations between Qatar and his country, highlighting plans to increase mutual investments in the near future. In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), President Abinader noted the signing of two agreements with Qatar.

The first, with the Ministry of Interior, focuses on co-operation to maintain security and enhance protection against international crimes in both countries, while the second aims to promote mutual investments.

He highlighted investment as a key priority in the areas of co-operation between the two countries, noting that the Dominican Republic has achieved the highest growth rate in Latin America, surpassing 5%. The Dominican Republic is seeking investments in the energy and renewable energy sectors, as well as exploration of potential oil and gas sites. The country also aims to sign long-term LNG contracts with Qatar and export Dominican commercial goods and products to Qatar, the president indicated.

On the other hand, President Abinader underscored the international community’s deep gratitude and appreciation for the roles played by Qatar in settling conflicts and saving lives both in the region and around the world. He noted that Qatar follows a remarkable approach to conflict resolution through peaceful means, a vision that is highly appreciated globally.

He highlighted Qatar’s humanitarian and development efforts, and its support for many communities, especially the least developed countries, which reflect the Qatari leadership’s noble humanitarian values towards people around the world. Regarding his participation in the Doha Forum 2024, the president stated that the forum has established itself as a key platform for discussing the most pressing global issues. The Forum plays an important role in enhancing mediation, building partnerships, and supporting sectors such as education and health, among others.
