The engineering masterpiece was unveiled during a special gathering for BMW M owners, where they had the exclusive opportunity to have a closer look on the car, a statement said. The event concluded with a special parade of BMW M cars driven by their owners from West Bay to the Lusail International Circuit.
The new BMW M5 marks the first time hybrid technology has been introduced to the M5 lineup. BMW’s signature, cutting-edge, racing inspired M Hybrid system pairs a powerful 4.4-litre V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering 'an incredible' 727 hp and 1,000 Nm of peak torque.
With this high-octane setup, the M5 rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and reaches top speeds of 305 km/h with the M Driver’s Package. The M Hybrid system delivers effortless acceleration, thanks to the electric motor’s 450 Nm of nominal torque. With three different driving modes (4WD, 4WD Sport, and rear-wheel-drive 2WD), drivers can switch up their experience to suit their mood and the road ahead.
The new M5's sculpted body features M-specific elements like the glow illuminated grille, twin exhausts, and a sleek M Carbon roof – all of which contribute to its athletic stance and improved aerodynamics. The iconic design, combined with elegant body-coloured paintwork, makes the M5 a showstopper.
The cabin is outfitted with Merino leather, ambient lighting, and BMW’s Curved Display, panoramic sunroof and a premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system makes every drive a joy. Safety features include Lane Departure Warning, Collision Warning, and Parking Assistant, with options for near-autonomous driving capabilities via Driving Assistant Professional – ideal for longer trips.
The M5 even features remote-controlled parking via smartphone, making city parking easier than ever, a statement added.
