The Ministry of Labour, represented by the Information and Labour Market Research Department, organised a training session in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and its Training Center, titled “Shaping the Future Workforce: A Brief Overview of the Enterprise Skills Survey (ESS)”.

This initiative forms part of the ongoing technical collaboration between the ministry and the ILO, focused on enhancing the capacity of institutions involved in labour market policies and professional development in Qatar. It also aligns with the ministry’s efforts to boost the competitiveness of the national workforce, equipping it to meet local labour market demands in line with the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030.

The three-day training session was attended by Ministry of Labour staff, researchers, employees from relevant government entities, and key stakeholders involved in workforce policy development and employment strategies.

The training aimed to shape the future workforce by adopting data-driven approaches to workforce development, using reliable research and evidence-based strategies to enhance employment processes.

This aligns with the Third National Strategy for an Effective and Highly Productive Workforce 2024-2030, which seeks to strengthen the efficiency and competitiveness of the workforce to support Qatar’s economic growth, sustainable development, and innovation.

The course included a strategic workshop to foster cooperation between government entities and the private sector, focusing on sharing knowledge, best practices, and practical experiences. This collaboration is intended to support data-driven initiatives that enhance workforce development, address skill gaps, and ensure alignment between employment processes and the needs of both public and private sector entities and companies.

Through this initiative, the Ministry of Labour aims to identify and address skill gaps within the labour market and implement sustainable solutions. The ministry is committed to developing effective policies and strategies based on accurate, up-to-date data to improve the effectiveness of employment strategies, ensuring the future needs of the labour market are met in line with Qatar’s vision for sustainable development.
