The Emergency Control Centre of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has conducted a rainstorm simulation, in co-operation with the National Command Centre at the Ministry of Interior.

The simulation is part of Ashghal’s continuous planning to address emergency weather conditions and heavy rains in specific areas in Qatar.

Ashghal president engineer Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Meer said this exercise aims to strengthen the work system and integration between the various security and civil entities in Qatar responsible for managing the rainy season.

The teams carried out a simulation to deal with rainfall by taking rapid measures to limit the potential damage, including closing roads that could collect water and sending specialised teams to pump water out of tunnels and roads.

The simulation also addressed the coordination between agencies to inform the public about traffic closures and alternative routes through dynamic screens.
