Birla Public School, Doha, Qatar, celebrated its 21st Founders’ Day themed ‘From Roots to Wings’ on November 28.
The first day of the gala brought together the entire BPS family, management, leadership team, staff, students, and all the stakeholders to witness artistic performances and honouring academic achievements.
A warm welcome was extended to the patron, HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali al-Thani, in absentia.
Qatar Museums’ Teen Hub director engineer Abdulrahman Ahmad al-Ishaq was the chief guest.
BPS chairman Gope Shahani, vice-chairperson Maria Pakalomattom, directors C V Rappai, Lukose K Chacko, and management representatives Chindhu Antony and Siddharth Shahani were present.
The school junior council members Pavana Kurian and Haniya Nisar welcomed the dignitaries. Principal Dr Anand R Nair presented the annual report for the academic year 2023–24.
“This institution has flourished into one of the leading centres of education in Qatar, creating a legacy of academic excellence, inclusivity and holistic development,” al-Ishaq said in his address. He shared his thoughts on the importance of creativity, culture and vision in shaping the future.
Rappai lauded the teachers and students for their dedication and immense effort in bringing laurels to the school.
In keeping with the tradition, the students who showcased outstanding performance in the CBSE examination in Grade X for the academic year 2023-2024 and students with special achievements were honoured with awards and medals. Staff who completed 10 years of service were feted.
The cultural extravaganza started with ‘Nrithya Shakti’, a dance performance, followed by a ‘Jugalbandi’, which blended the world of Western and Indian music and dance.
The entertainment continued with the choir’s performance of ‘Happy Celebration’. ‘Threads of Tradition’ a fashion show blended traditional attire with modern flair, showcasing the rich culture and heritage.
‘Resilient Flight’, a musical dance-drama, symbolised the essence of roots and wings, portraying the transformative journey of a bird as a metaphor for a child’s growth.
The performance concluded with a message about family and community values such as trust, responsibility, respect, and empathy.
Kindergarten students presented ‘Harmony in Nature.’ A musical, ‘Nature’s Palette’ showcased the emotional journey of a family that explored different locations in Europe, in varying seasons, before relocating to India, from Qatar.
A ‘Thank you song’, marked the finale of the evening. Head girl Mitakshie Arun and the head boy Nathan Memana proposed a vote of thanks.
