A special international conference on artificial intelligence (AI) for homeland security and safety technology at Milipol Qatar 2024 featured a series of sessions focusing on the pivotal role of AI in addressing escalating global security threats and explored avenues to leverage technology to enhance security efforts.

During the conference, a key highlight of the 15th edition of Milipol Qatar, leading global experts discussed AI innovations and ethics focusing on four main themes: AI and smart technologies, AI in security operations, ethics of AI and security challenges and opportunities in AI.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, HE the Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed al-Thani inaugurated the conference. Experts discussed the ethics of using AI in the security and safety sectors.

Engineer Khalid al-Sayed spoke about AI and its role in balancing privacy and security. He emphasised the importance of predictive policing in data analysis to ensure maximum effectiveness in maintaining both privacy and security. The experts discussed the ways of overcoming challenges related to AI technology and privacy and the role of authorities in taking responsibility for protecting individuals' privacy and ensuring the safe and responsible use of the advanced technology.
