IN-Q Enterprises (IN-Q), commercial arm and wholly-owned subsidiary of Qatar Museums (QM), is participating in the Qatar Sustainability Week 2024 (QSW), through a series of initiatives across its food, beverage, and retail outlets.
As operator of IDAM by Alain Ducasse, Museum of Islamic Art Café at MIA, Jiwan at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), Café #999 at the Fire Station, and 3-2-1 Café at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, IN-Q is taking significant steps to reduce its environmental footprint.
A key initiative at all IN-Q’s food and beverage (F&B) outlets is to recycle used cooking oil into biodiesel, undertaken in partnership with Green Brokerage for Oil (GBO) – Qatar. Café #999 will host a sustainability workshop on October 5.
All IN-Q cafés — including Café #999, MIA Café, and 3-2-1 Café — are promoting healthy eating by offering nutritious and sustainable snack options.
Jiwan, flagship restaurant of the NMoQ, is unveiling a new seasonal menu to coincide with QSW, featuring locally-sourced ingredients.
Yves Godard, director of F&B Operations and Commercial Leasing, said: “Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Our goal is to create dining experiences that are exceptional and sustainable, contributing to a healthier future for Qatar.”
In retail operations, IN-Q reintroduces its “Bring Your Own Tote Bag” campaign across all QM Gift Shops and at Cass Art Qatar. It encourages customers to reduce plastic waste by using reusable bags and embedding sustainability into their everyday shopping experience.
Cass Art Qatar is hosting a Sustainability Art Competition, inviting artists to submit works inspired by the theme “A Future Built Upon Sustainability.” The last date for entries will be October 2, with the winner announced on October 3.
“By encouraging reusable options and fostering creative initiatives like the Sustainability Art Competition, we aim to inspire customers to embrace eco-friendly choices that create a positive impact,” Retail and Merchandising director Tigest Seifu said.
