The Qatar team finished third in the 29th Arab Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Saudi Arabia in straight sets in the Tunisian city of Hammamet.
The Qatari team consisting Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan achieved victory (21-11, 21-11), after qualifying for the third-place match following its loss in the semi-final against Oman (1-2).
The 29th Arab Beach Volleyball Championship for women and men, hosted by Tunisia, is witnessing the participation of 15 teams from 8 Arab countries: Tunisia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Lebanon and Morocco.
The Qatari national team participated in the tournament with two teams, the first of which included Younousse and Tijan, while the second team comprised of Tariq Abdel Hafez and Nour Othman.
The second Qatari team comprising of Hafez and Othman, bid farewell to the tournament from the group stage following losses to Tunisian and Moroccan teams. Earlier they beat Bahrain in straight sets.
The Qatari team’s participation in this tournament comes after they featured in the beach volleyball competition at the Paris Olympics 2024 in which Younousse and Tijan finished fourth.
They won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
