Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani's visit to Greece is an important occasion to cement and deepen the existing relations and co-operation between the two countries. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the prime minister noted the two countries' great potential that can contribute to the stability of the region during these challenging times.

He said that the Amir's visit will open new prospects for co-operation and push bilateral relations towards further development in many fields. Qatar and Greece seek to enhance co-operation in various sectors, including energy, digital economy, infrastructure, trade and investment. Athens wants to play pivotal roles in the global energy sector, especially in the liquefied natural gas industry, by becoming a corridor to the European market through strengthening its partnership with Qatar, a key player in this field.

Greek Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas said that the Amir's visit marks a significant milestone in deepening and expanding of bilateral economic relations and the fostering of new partnerships in several areas of common interest.

Skrekas said that over the last five years, Greece has become pivotal in attracting investors and entrepreneurs, showcasing outstanding opportunities.

He said that Greece's strategy is actively transforming Greece into a hub for green energy, digital connectivity, innovation, and logistics. The Greek economy is following a robust growth trajectory based on sustainability, competitiveness, and social cohesion.

"The cutting-edge sectors that we are currently working on in the Ministry of Development are manufacturing, and particularly in strategic sectors such as clean-tech, pharmaceuticals, agri-food, the shipbuilding industry, critical raw materials, and of course high-tech innovation, real estate, and hospitality," he said.

Alternate Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Ioannis Vroutsis said that Qatar-Greece relations are excellent and very strong, stressing the mutual appreciation and respect between the two peoples and the governments of the two countries. He expressed the aspiration of the two countries to strengthen the existing bilateral relations in sports, a matter that both sides are working to achieve through an expected agreement in progress. He praised Qatar for its interest in sports and its excellence in its various sectors, and for making it a top priority; adding that it is the same thing that the Hellenic Republic is working on, which will greatly benefit the youth now and in the future.

Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisochoidis stressed that the visit of His Highness the Amir reflects the steady development of the diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries and represents an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen the co-operation at all levels. He said that the future prospects for Qatar-Greece relations are promising, with both countries showing a genuine commitment to deepening their co-operation.
