As Al Sadd and Qatar SC prepare to face off in the Amir Cup final this Friday, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) has been busy ensuring that the event, marking the 52nd edition of this prestigious tournament, is a grand spectacle for all football enthusiasts.
Ticket sales for the final have seen a high demand, particularly among Al Sadd supporters. Tickets are available in three price categories: QR50, QR30, and QR10. For ticket-holders, QFA will hold special raffle with 52 prizes up for grabs, including a car.
The final match will be held at the Education City Stadium, which has a capacity of 44,667. The venue hosted matches during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 games earlier this year. The final is scheduled to kick off at 7pm.
Qatar SC advanced to the Amir Cup final for the first time in 20 years, defeating Al Gharafa 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in a thrilling semi-final at the Al Janoub Stadium on Sunday.
On Saturday, Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd secured their spot in the final with a narrow 1-0 victory over arch-rivals Al Duhail, thanks to Akram Afif’s decisive 46th-minute strike at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.
Ali al-Salat, the QFA’s Deputy Manager of Media, highlighted the efforts being made to accommodate fans. “We are pleased to see the interest in the final. Tickets have been selling quickly since they went on sale two days ago. We have also arranged various entertainment activities to enhance the experience. Additionally, the accessibility services used during the FIFA World Cup will be in place to ensure that blind and visually impaired fans can enjoy the match. To celebrate the 52nd edition of this tournament, we will be giving away 52 prizes, including a car, through a draw.”
Hassan al-Naimi, the Venues Operation Manager, assured fans that all preparations are on track for a seamless event.
“The stadium has been the venue for several major tournaments in recent years. The Amir Cup is special for us, and we are looking forward to welcoming the fans,” he said, emphasising the importance of this event in Qatar’s sporting calendar.
To manage the large crowds expected, Stadium Traffic Commander Nasser al-Naimi said that the stadium gates would open at 4pm. “We are completely ready to ensure smooth movement of spectators with our highly experienced staff,” he assured, highlighting the meticulous planning undertaken to facilitate a smooth entry and exit for fans.
Head of Transportation Operation Ghanem al-Kuwari encouraged spectators to arrive early to avoid congestion. “There will be several routes available to reach the stadium but we advise fans to reach the venue early. We also advise them to use Doha Metro for their convenience,” he said.
