Qatar Chess Association (QCA) concluded the competitions of the first edition of the Primary School Chess Championship (for public and private schools) as part of the “Naqla” project, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Mohamed al-Mudahka, President of QCA, honoured the participating schools in the Chess in Schools (Naqla) project, and the teachers supervising the project were also recognized, alongside the winners of the final championship.
The conclusion of the event took place at the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara with the participation of 250 players representing 40 schools. It featured three tournaments: one for boys from public schools, one for girls from public schools, and one for private schools, each following a five-round system, QCA announced.
In the individual competition for boys from public schools, Khaled Kurdi from Ahmad Bin Rashid Al-Muraikhi Primary School for Boys secured the first place, Hamza Alaa El-Din al-Mesaieed from Abdullah Bin Turki Primary School won the second place, and Ali Rubai al-Adawi from Abdullah Bin Turki Primary School came in the third place.
In the team competition for boys from public schools, Abdullah Bin Turki Primary School won first place, Saad Bin Moaz Primary School came in second, and Ahmad Bin Rashid Al-Muraikhi Primary School for Boys took the third place.
In the individual competition for girls from public schools, Al-Bayan Primary School secured the top three positions, with Asmaa al-Buwazir, Asmaa Salah al-Hammadi, and Hemian al-Buwazir leading the ranks.
In the team competition for girls from public schools, Al-Bayan Primary School for Girls took first place, Amina Mahmoud Al-Jaidah Primary School for Girls came in second, and Tebah Primary School for Girls secured the third place.
In the individual competition for private schools, Mohamed Azlan from The Next Generation School won first place, followed by Noah Nizar from Atyaf International School in the second place, and Mohamed al-Fakhri from My Academy in third place.
In the team competition for private schools, My Academy won first place, The Next Generation School came in second, and Doha English Speaking School took third place.
