Qatari director Abdul Rahman al-Mana won the Best Director Award at the Athens Film Festival for his film 'Commitment is an action, not a word,' local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.

He was honoured among the three best directors at the festival. Al-Mana is considered one of the most prominent and promising Qatari filmmakers, as he believes that his main motivation is not only in filmmaking, but also in contributing to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, which emphasises reliance on local production in its various aspects in economic, social and environmental development, as well as the film industry.

He said: “I am eager and looking forward to being part of building a bright future for Doha.” Al-Mana graduated from the UK with a BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production from Keele University.
