The 2015 Building (Qatar Foundation headquarters) was lit up in blue on Tuesday to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day, an initiative lead by Renad Academy, a specialised school under Qatar Foundation (QF)’s Pre-University Education.

Renad Academy supports children with autism in collaboration with the Special Schools and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Services at the QF that includes Awsaj Academy, The Learning Centre and the Ability Friendly Programme.

The initiative aims to spread awareness and encourage community members to accept and support people with autism.

Other QF buildings lit in blue included the Education City Stadium, Sidra Medicine, and the Qatar National Convention Centre.

By lighting buildings in blue, the QF participated in the global campaign to raise awareness about autism.

World Autism Awareness Day was created based on a proposal submitted by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the QF Chairperson, to the United Nations in 2007.

Since 2008 it has taken place every year on April 2.
