The resolution issued by the United Nations Security Council for immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip must be objective and not symbolic to end one of the darkest chapters of humanity, said the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) on Tuesday.
This came in the remarks of UNICEF'S spokesperson James Elder at a press conference held in Geneva commenting on the resolution issued by the UNSC for immediate ceasefire in Gaza on Monday.
Gaza has broken the record of the darkest chapters of humanity, and it is now incumbent upon humanity to write down a different chapter immediately, Elder said.
He added that opening Beit Hanoun crossing in the northern Gaza Strip located ten minutes away from the tragedy in the Strip, could improve the humanitarian crisis within days.
