QU pointed out that in the fall of 2026, the college will introduce minors in the main programmes: a minor in Sports Management, a minor in Sport Events Management & Facilities and a minor in Sports Marketing. As for the minors related to sports coaching, the college will offer a minor in sport coaching and a minor in sport coaching for special needs.
QU’s Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr Ibrahim al-Kaabi said: “We worked with relevant parties in the community, step by step, to ensure the suggestions of our stakeholders were implemented in the formation of this college. We also collaborated with the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Office, who assisted us with the procedures.”
Al-Kaabi added that the university is keen to be in line with the state’s strategy by establishing a college for sports sciences, explaining that the college’s academic programme has undergone many procedures, through co-operation with the Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Office, in addition to co-operation with the university’s strategic partners to submit a proposal suitable for the Board of Trustees.
For her part, QU’s Associate Vice-President for Academic Planning and Quality Assurance Dr Mona al-Marzouqi said that the establishment of the College of Sports Sciences is a national project that supports the country’s strategy for the sports sector, pointing to the design of the academic programmes that the college will offer based on the needs of stakeholders in the sports field, as well as the international sports accreditation standards.
She emphasised that there are job opportunities for college graduates after co-ordination was made with stakeholders, including the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in addition to providing future government scholarships for students.
Dr al-Marzouqi said that the career opportunities that will be available to graduates of the College of Sports Sciences at Qatar University are varied, and will include sports activities co-ordinator, sales marketing co-ordinator, sports competitions and events co-ordinator, sports facilities and facility co-ordinator, physical fitness and special needs, community sports, and physical sports physiology.
