The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Waste Recycling and Treatment Department, held a workshop for government agencies, institutions, and private sector companies on the pilot launch of the new version of waste disposal permit services concurrently with the Global Recycling Day.
The workshop was intended to brief the participants on the new services ahead of the final launch date of the version scheduled for March 30 to mark the International Day of Zero Waste. The new version comes within the ministry's endeavour to upgrade its services afforded to all entities, particularly the private sector, in addition to bolstering its role as partner for the public sector in advancing the community, in pursuit of achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Addressing the workshop, Director of Waste Recycling and Treatment Department at the Ministry of Municipality Engineer Hamad Jassim al-Bahr stated that the new version for the waste disposal permit services is one of the premier services offered by the Ministry of Municipality though its official website to help the beneficiaries apply for waste disposal permits in one of the ministry's authorised landfills, pointing out that the service has been upgraded to be consistent with the ministry's mission that features excellence in offering services and achieving quintessential values, primarily for the beneficiaries.
The services are manifestly directed towards the government agencies and institutions, along with the private sector companies and community individuals. The recent update made for the services was essentially aimed at streamlining the process of applying for waste disposal permit though a combination of advantages that aim to streamline the process, swiftly accomplish the mission, and achieve a high level of accuracy, transparency and reliability in all work phases, al-Bahr highlighted.
He reviewed the most important merits of the these services, such as the issuance of permits automatically and instantly without interference on the part of staffers through vetting all documents linked with the Ministry of Interior, except for some cases such as the ownership of motor vehicle by person under eighteen, the registration of vehicle automatically with the General Directorate of Traffic and allow the vehicle with valid documents only to register so as to achieve maximum levels of service thoroughness and reliability, in addition to unifying the permits for all vehicle and all places and not for each site separately, he noted, as it was the case in the previous system. The new services manifestly facilitate the submission process and streamline the procedures for the beneficiaries, he underlined.
He highlighted that the new services help the public add permits to the same application for a group of vehicles to streamline the data entry process, ensure the possibility of permit cancelation in those services with the activation of new work rules that restrict random cancelation processes, unify the permit validity duration to be three months and essentially link the permit validity duration directly with the vehicle registration expiry date, in addition to demonstrating dashboard to beneficiaries that displays an overall summary of permit status, vehicle movements, notices, all notes and violations recorded on the permits.
There are other numerous advantages that serve the Waste Recycling and Treatment Department, such as the registration of the actual weight of vehicle and load onsite and ensure that all vehicles have already disposed waste in the correct sites to which they will be directed when entering from the site gate and never dump the waste in the unauthorised sites, al-Bahr pointed out.
For her part, Director of Information Systems Department at the Ministry of Municipality, Dr Hamda al-Maadeed highlighted that the new version of waste disposal permit services comes within the outputs of the ministry's digital transportation project currently underway, adding that the project, in question, aims to achieve a comprehensive digital transformation for its services primarily founded in the cutting-edge technologies, such as AI and re-engineering service procedures through streamlining the procedures and requirements.
The new version is a perfect model for the services that have been launched within the project and will definitely achieve a paradigm shift in terms of performance and quality, she said, adding that the ministry's digital transformation project currently underway strives to make comprehensive development for 400 services, with the total number of the available e-services on the website reaching 148, the number of services on the ministry's "Oun" application reaching 139, al-Maadeed noted, stating that the new services will offer numerous new technical and functional advantages, such as the electronic link with multiple data sources of other state institutions and, the easy access to information, as well as issuance and cancellation of permits electronically.
