The Department of Da’wa and Guidance at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) organised a symposium for imams and preachers.
Titled ‘the role of imam and preacher in reviving the mosque and its impact in Ramadan’, the programme was led by Sheikh Dr Ahmed al-Mohammadi and Sheikh Dr Hossamaddin al- Shammari.
The symposium, according to a statement from Awqaf, comes to assert the importance of the role of the imam and the preacher in reviving the mosque in general and in particular during Ramadan.
The lecturers noted that imams and preachers play an important role in motivating the worshippers and directing them towards goodness, interpreting the Holy Qur’an and explaining its meanings during the Friday sermon and other religious lectures.
They discussed a number of topics while explaining the position of the mosque in Islam, the importance of activating its message to benefit people, the importance of preparing for the seasons and feeling responsible and the importance of setting a plan and goals according to reality. The symposium concluded with a statement of proposals for some programmes that the imam can put into practice during Ramadan.
