A total of 379 autistic persons from the Qatar Autism Society will benefit from the support of the General Administration of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs.
This was announced Sunday at a press conference attended by the director general of the administration Dr Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed al-Thani, vice president of Qatar Autism Society Saad Mohamed al-Ghanim and several officials from the two entities.
Al-Thani said the administration is keen to partner with various stakeholders to fulfill the conditions of the endowments through community partnerships.
“The administration is considered the strategic partner of the Qatar Autism Society. A permanent headquarters of the society has been provided for the association, from which about 405 people benefit,” he said.
The latest initiative is aimed at developing the abilities of autistic persons and enhancing and developing their motor skills. It’s implemented with the support from the Endowment Bank for Family and Childhood, the Endowment Bank for Health Care and the Endowment Bank for Scientific and Cultural Development.
Al-Ghanim said around 1,000 persons with autism benefit from the society’s activities, including through workshops and courses.
