The Jasmin Lines exhibition, featuring a number of works by select Syrian calligraphers, was inaugurated by Katara - Cultural Village general manager Prof Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti at Building 47, Gallery 1, in collaboration with the Syrian embassy. Dr Bilal Turkia, charge d'Affaires at the Syrian embassy in Doha, along with participating artists and some Arabic calligraphy enthusiasts were present at the opening. Dr al-Sulaiti expressed his pleasure at hosting the exhibition, which focuses on the art of Arabic calligraphy in its classic and modern forms. He highlighted Katara's efforts in celebrating Arabic calligraphy, nurturing related arts, and enhancing cultural identity, considering it a cornerstone of Arab and Islamic heritage. Dr al-Sulaiti further stressed Katara's role in promoting the global presence of Arabic calligraphy, conveying its cultural relevance, and contributions to global culture and human heritage, especially since it has been recognied by the Unesco, through various programmes, exhibitions, courses, and the monthly Katara Arabic Calligraphy Forum.
