The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Parks Department, organised a tree planting event at Expo 2023 Doha for the ambassadors of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC), a statement from the Peru embassy said.
The ministry's gardens section head Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed, who is also the head of the Qatar Pavilion, was present at the event attended by the envoys of Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Uruguay, Venezuela, and the chargés d'affaires of Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama. As part of the Ten Million Trees Initiative, the diplomats planted a sapling of Sidra, the iconic symbol of Qatar's heritage.
"With this act, the GRULAC demonstrate their firm commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and the development and preservation of the environment, a fundamental pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030," the statement added.
