Users of the Meta-owned social media platforms Facebook and Instagram were experiencing log-in difficulties in Qatar and many other countries around the world Tuesday evening. At some locations the sites were not even opening and elsewhere users were prompted to log-in again and when they did, the attempts failed. The Facebook messenger also was not working for many.
The site outage tracker Downdetector.com also confirmed that Facebook and Instagram were down for many users Tuesday. There were more than 300,000 reports of outages for Facebook, while there were more than 20,000 reports for Instagram, according to Downdetector.
