The eighth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex 2024) has offered participants and those interested in the field a unique platform to explore opportunities and expand their business.
The three-day event which opened yesterday at the Qatar National Convention Centre has won the praise of the visitors and exhibitors.
Dr Serkan Mezarcioz, head of military projects design and engineering at Koluman Automotive Industry (KOE) Turkiye, stressed that the exhibition is considered among the well-organised in its category worldwide. He hoped his company would have an excellent opportunity to reach out to others in the industry not only in Qatar as the event has become a global hub for those in the field. KOE manufactures heavy military vehicles that could be modified and repurposed according to the needs and requirements of the client, in addition to other defence related products.
First Lieutenant Abdulaziz Abudlla al-Sulaiti, from Mohammed Bin Ghanem Al Ghanem Maritime Academy, stressed that Dimdex 2024 is an excellent opportunity for all defence entities and academies to get introduced to the latest innovations in the field. The academy organises a number of visits for its cadets to the exhibition so as to introduce them to new and sophisticated solutions in the field of engineering and maritime defence.
Dr Lambros Kaikstis, head of Marine Engineering Department at Doha University for Science and Technology, said demand is set to be high on maritime products and marine engineers, as Qatar is expanding its marine and ship industry, in addition to the shipbuilding collaborations with major global companies. He stressed that Dimdex 2024 is compact, well-organised and focussed, and constitute a good opportunity to exchange ideas, establish new contacts and reach out to global stakeholders in the field.
Xu Bai, project manager at Poly Technologies, a Chinese defence company, sees Dimdex 2024 as an excellent opportunity for business, where potential buyers can meet directly with the sellers. He further stressed the excellent quality of the organisation of the event, appreciating the great effort exerted.
Kannanunni Ramkrishnan, deputy director at Qatar-based CHM Global, highly appreciated Dimdex 2024 for maritime defence and commercial industries solutions that could also be utilised in the shipment of oil and gas cargo.
The participants include major defence industries and related supporting industries and services from Qatar, Turkiye, the UK, the US, France, Italy, Iran, India, China, Netherlands, Germany and others.
