The Turkish National Day was marked on Thursday, with the embassy showcasing the culture, heritage and hospitality to an audience of various nationalities, at the Turkiye pavilion in Expo 2023 Doha.
Performances of the Janissary (Mehter) band, Turkish folk dances, and whirling dervishes as well as the workshops for aromatic fragrances and arts of calligraphy, paper marbling, and illumination were at the centre of attention.
One of the most popular parts of the event was the treats of Turkish flavours from Turkish cuisine offered to the visitors.
Mehmet Ali Kılıckaya, director-general of exports at the Turkish ministry of trade, highlighted in his speech the significance of Expo 2023 Doha as a platform for global communication and collaboration.
He underscored the strong bilateral relations between Turkiye and Qatar, acknowledging mutual support and co-operation in various fields.
He further outlined Turkiye’s pavilion at the expo, showcasing the country's agricultural heritage, technological innovation, and commitment to sustainability.
Expo 2023 Doha secretary-general Mohamed Ali al-Khouri stressed that Turkish agriculture offers attractive investment opportunities in various sectors, including agricultural technology, stockbreeding, aquaculture, seed production, and greenhouses, where Turkiye ranks second in Europe after Spain, and also aims to become one of the world's top five agricultural producers.
Turkiye's participation in Expo 2023 Doha allows for the display of its successful experiences and expertise in agriculture while benefiting from the latest technological advancements to address climate change challenges.
Turkiye also presents investment opportunities in modern agriculture, urban development, educational institutions, and health facilities.
Al-Khoury expressed his best wishes for the success of the Turkish pavilion in attracting more investments and partnerships.
Turkish ambassador Dr Mustafa Goksu signed the guestbook at the Expo 2023 Doha Turkiye pavilion.
He thanked the officials of the Turkish ministry of trade, expo staff, and the Qatari friends who provided this opportunity on the Turkish Day at Doha Expo.
