The State of Qatar joins the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in marking the Gulf Healthy Cities Day, which falls on March 1; emphasizing its commitment to creating healthy and sustainable cities that support regional efforts towards building a better and healthier future for communities, within the framework of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Public Health launched the new interactive platform for healthy cities. The platform serves as a pivotal and pioneering tool for the sustainability of the healthy cities program as it enhances innovation and cooperation among stakeholders in the healthy city. This provides a sustainable framework for key initiatives, enhances collaboration and resource sharing, facilitates continuous updates and improvements to the platform, and seamless collaboration between stakeholders, contributing to the continued success of the Healthy Cities Program, and encouraging institutions and communities to adopt a multi-sectoral approach to promoting health and well-being.

Head of the Healthy Cities Network in Qatar Dr. Sadriya Al Kooheji, said in a statement: The concept of the healthy city emphasizes, in the field of public health, the multiple dimensions of health and health promotion and its principles, including creating environments that support health, investing in creating healthy places, and making available healthy choices.

In 2022, all eight municipalities of Qatar were certified as healthy cities by the World Health Organization. Qatar Foundation's Education City was certified as a healthy education city, and Qatar University as a healthy university.

This accreditation represents a testament to the commitment, hard work and dedication of stakeholders in the State of Qatar, institutional officials, healthcare providers and community organizations, who have worked tirelessly to promote health across sectors.

The State of Qatar continues to prioritize the health and well-being of its citizens and residents by investing in programs and initiatives that promote healthy living and support the needs of all communities.
