The Horticulture Expo 2023 Doha celebrated the Algerian National Day yesterday in the presence of HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie and Algerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Youcef Cherfa.
The event was attended by Expo 2023 Doha commissioner-general Bader bin Omar al-Dafa, Algerian ambassador to Qatar Salah Attia, and a number of ambassadors and diplomatic corps.
The event featured a group of cultural, heritage and artistic activities and welcome speeches.
Al-Dafa expressed appreciation for the Algerian pavilion’s contribution to the success of the international exhibition, given Algeria’s capabilities, qualifications and experiences in the field of agriculture, environment and sustainability.
Cherfa hailed the relations between the two countries and the efforts by Qatar in making this international horticultural exhibition a success.
The Algerian minister reviewed his country’s participation in the expo, its experience in combating desertification, and its programmes aimed at preserving environmental balance.
Participants in the celebration visited the pavilions of Qatar and Algeria.
The Algerian pavilion presents an integrated picture of the heritage and history of Algerian agriculture, all the way to Algeria's innovations and future plan in the field of agriculture.
A comprehensive picture of the origins of agriculture in Algeria, and its development over the years, was presented at the pavilion, leading to the latest innovations used in combating desertification.
The Algerian national plan to combat desertification and confront climate change are showcased on screens, in addition to highlighting the Algerian transition towards renewable energy: solar energy, wind energy, and hydroelectric thermal energy.
