Al Rufaa Racing-owned Townsend Manor scored a hat-trick of wins as the bay gelding won the Ain Khaled Cup on Thursday.
At the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) Al Rayyan Racecourse, jockey Marco Casamento guided the Gassim Ghazali ward to win the Class 2 Ain Khaled Cup for three-year-old thoroughbreds, the feature race of the day. It was the third win for the three-year-old horse in four starts this year. Saeed Ibrahim Saeed al-Malki’s Jungle Mate came second, while Nasser Saif AR al-Kubaisi-owned Greer finished third.
Townsend Manor won the thoroughbred novice plate (Class 5) on January 17 during the Al Kharrara Cup and Thoroughbred Handicap 55-75 (Class 5) on February 1 at the Al Uqda Race course.
In the opening race of the day, Wathnan Racing-owned and Alban de Mieulle-trained Raed won the 1500m Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for four-year-olds.
