The Doha Film Institute (DFI) launched special screenings for local films produced by Qatari talent as part of the "Made in Qatar" programme at a cinema in Doha.
Offered by DFI, the screenings of Made in Qatar films are the most critical initiatives and garner global appreciation and mostly highlight the cinema industry in Qatar. These are dedicated to upgrading the local talents, offering a crucial platform for citizens and residents to unlock their unique innovations and ideas through films.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), chief administrative officer of DFI Abdallah al-Musallam said DFI paid tribute to 14 films of 15 directors within the programme 'Made in Qatar 2023'. He said those works could not be screened last year due to the situation facing the region. He expressed his pride in the young talents who presented their best works.
Several Qatari directors and those residing in Qatar commended the milestones achieved by DFI in its determination to open broader horizons for them to upgrade their performance in this field.
Director Noura al-Nasser said that DFI is the real incubator of young filmmakers, whether in terms of training or advancing their works.
For his part, the director Ibrahim al-Buainain said that DFI not only supported them but has been flexibly dealing with them and embracing the emerging talents, he added.
